If you are an experienced Behaviour Support Assistant, Sports Coach, Residential Support Worker or Childcare Practitioner looking to take the next step in your career, then this could be the perfect job for you! The role is due to start September 2021 for the whole 21/22 academic year.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be providing support and building relationships with the pupils in a behaviour unit at a mainstream school by helping them to develop a new attitude towards education in a safe and friendly environment. The role will be supporting a pupil on a 2 to 1 basis alongside another behaviour support assistant.

You will work alongside Teachers, Parents, Families and various Professionals like Social Workers and Educational Psychologists in order to meet the needs of the pupils and their personalised learning plans. You will aim to encourage and enthuse the pupils to participate in all school activities to their best abilities so they can build a more positive relationship with education and understand the benefits of learning.

The School

The school is a mainstream primary school which support two specialist resource bases for pupils with behavioural difficulties, one for the foundation phase and one for KS2. The unit’s have less than 10 pupils in each class so that they can provide the best support.

The successful behaviour support assistant will be joining a hard-working, friendly team of staff.

As well as the support for the pupils, staff well-being is equally important where you will have access to counselling services and regular coffee breaks.

Requirement

  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally with behaviour difficulties.
  • Available full time Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30.
  • Have a child workforce DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Be able to use own initiative and have resilience as the role can be challenging.
