Behaviour Support Assistant

Job description

Due to an extremely high demand Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a number of Behaviour Support Assistant's on a full time basis for the new academic year in the Halifax area.

The primary schools we work with are looking for Behaviour Support Assistants to work with children aged7-11 years old with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The school offers alot of support by focusing on subjects like Maths and English. Some of these children that have been unable to make progress within the classroom environments and benefit from 1:1 support outside the classroom.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health
  • Have a sound understanding of meeting the needs of learners who can exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Be passionate about supporting the delivery of an alternative curriculum
  • Additional training in Team Teach, MAPA or other recognised Positive Intervention training is desired

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will need to be patient, with a great deal of resilience in order to provide reliable support to young people in times of stress. You will have a strong commitment to young people and a sound understanding of the factors affecting their lives. In addition, you will have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with pupils, a large staff team, multi-agency professionals and parents/carers.

In addition if you a background in Youth or Social Work, counselling or experience within a Youth Offending Team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
