Behaviour Support Assistant

Date posted : 17/01/20
Dependent on experience

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

A client school of Teaching Personnel has contacted the agency in search of a Behaviour Support TA to support the class teacher in their Year 2 class, beginning ASAP. If you meet the below requirements then read on as this could be the role for you!

  • Primary school experience as Teaching Assistant or in any support role.
  • Experience handling children with challenging behaviour in any capacity.
  • SEN experience – particularly with ASC children.
  • Able to travel to LS16.
  • Free full-time, 5 days a week.

The school:

The role is at a 2-form entry primary school in LS16, and will be mostly focussed in one of their Year 2 classes. The school was rated as GOOD by Ofsted in 2016 and the Head has been at the school for a number of years, where performance and progress has remained consistent in this time. The school is an extremely pleasant atmosphere to work in as the core staff have mostly been at the school for a long time, so know the school well and provide excellent support to any new members of staff. The school has higher than the national average SEN intake, and these children are well looked after as the school employs a high number of SEN Support staff and Teaching Assistants.

The role:

This particular role is focussed in one of the year 2 classes, as behaviour in this class has not met the school’s standards so far this year, and feel this is now affecting preparation for KS1 SATs. There is one ASC child in the class whose behaviour can sometimes be quite volatile, and has in the past been violent with some members of staff. There are also 2 students in the class with Global Delay, and although there is already one TA in this class the behaviour has at times been too much to manage so further support is needed. General class TA work is a part of the role, but it will largely be focussed on the challenging students in question and taking them out of class when necessary. Any background in sports or PE would also go a long way, as the school are looking for a candidate who can engage the children in extra-curricular activities as they often struggle to stay in the classroom.

The Details:

The role is initially until the end of this academic year, but would likely be made permanent depending on the success of the candidate in the role. The school are keen to organise interviews and trials over the next fortnight, so that they can have someone in place before the February half-term break. To apply you must first meet the requirements laid out at the top of this advert. If you can fulfil these, then apply by sending an up to date CV which explains your previous roles and the responsibilities you were entrusted with. In taking this role you would be contracted to Teaching Personnel, meaning we will deal with any issues relating to pay, vetting, HR or anything else you may need help with. You will be paid on a weekly basis, and the daily rate of pay will be negotiated and finalised upon offer of the role. You will also have a dedicated personal consultant who will see to any issue that you may have.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
