As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 10 pupils. Your role will mainly involve supporting the pupils with their new routines and classes, helping them to adapt to their school routine both academically and socially.  You will be working with children and young people who are not able attend mainstream education for multiple reasons, such as Anxiety, Exclusion, Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties

The successful Teaching Assistant would have:

  • Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
  • Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
  • The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles

This role demands motivation, passion, patience and the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations.

The school is located in the Oldham area and has excellent public transport links particularly by train, tram and bus within a few minutes’ walk of the school.

To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.

Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

What you can expect from Teaching Personnel:

  • A dedicated consultant to discuss current or future roles with you
