Teaching Assistant required for a Liverpool based Pupil Referral Unit

  • Teaching Assistant at Pupil Referral Unit
  • Fixed term contract
  • Across two sites in Bootle and Formby - very easily accessible via public transport

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a Pupil Referral Unit who are looking to take on several Teaching Assistants for a fixed term contract.
Students at the school have been referred after exclusion from mainstream education, and usually have diagnosed mental health and social and emotional issues as well as displaying challenging anti-social behaviours.

Due to this the students have a dedicated Educational Health Care Plan designed to support them in a way that is flexible and suits their specific needs.

Understandably, due to the students needs, there is a heavy focus on behaviour management and de-escalation; if you have any experience in dealing with challenging behaviours, or have experience in Youth Work or Psychology, again this would be preferable.

You need to have a resilient personality, whilst being understanding and empathetic to the students and their personal situations/needs - it's important to build rapport so they feel that school is a place they can feel open, unjudged and safe.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.
The school require on and off support throughout the year depending on student intake and staffing needs, so there is always opportunity for contract extension and permanent roles.

If this opportunity sounds like something which you would really excel in, or if you want to hear about other Teaching Assistant vacancies, please send over your up to date CV.

What you can expect from Teaching Personnel

  • A dedicated consultant to discuss current or future roles with you
  • An extensively discounted CPD program
  • Payment in house, meaning no fees from Umbrella companies
  • £9.50 an hour or above
  • 13 weeks off per year.

Interviews are starting Immediately, if you are interested in this position and have the relevant qualifications please send your CV to jack.mccoll@teachingpersonnel.com or call Jack at the Liverpool Secondary Branch on 0151 271 0225 for more information
