Behaviour Support Assistant required for a PRU, based in Newham, East London.

Can you make a difference to the lives of young people who have struggled to cope in mainstream education due to their behavioural difficulties?

Can you relate to young people and encourage them to believe in their own potential?

I am looking for a Learning Support Assistant to work in a key stage 4 class of students, mostly boys, who have been excluded from mainstream education and placed in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).

You will provide full time support for the children in this class, aiding the class teacher in engaging the children to develop their academic, social and emotional progress.

  • You must be available for full time work after Easter
  • Experience of working in a PRU, or behaviour provision, or youth work is highly desirable
  • Training in behaviour management, physical intervention or Team Teach (restraint) is also highly desirable, although this is available through Teaching Personnel over the Easter holidays
  • Competitive daily pay rates available – from £77-£110 per day dependent on experience and qualifications/training

This is a long term position with the potential to apply for a permanent job if you perform well and like the school. You must be committed to the safe guarding of children and be willing to apply for a DBS (if you don’t already have one registered to the update service).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
