A secondary school with academy status in East Cheshire is looking to appoint a new Behaviour Support Assistant to work with students experiencing behavioural difficulties in the classroom and beyond that may be affecting their attainment. The position will be full time and temporary for the summer term and is the perfect opportunity for candidates with previous classroom assistance experience and a drive for helping vulnerable young people.

The school looking to hire is a high achieving and above average performing school in the East Cheshire area who’s student first approach to teaching has ensured the best results year after year. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting young people with behavioural difficulties who may have Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs, may be in residential care or may be from a youth work environment. Behaviour Support Assistants will work alongside regular classroom teachers to ensure a smooth delivery of lessons whilst reducing barriers to learning for vulnerable students. BSA’s will also work to promote self confidence in and out of the classroom by providing one-on-one and small group intervention and pastoral support and sometimes deliver individual programmes of work.

• Supporting young people with SEMH requirements
• Supporting young people in residential care
• Supporting young people from a youth work environment
• Previous classroom support experience in another capacity (TA, SEN TA, LSA)

The school looking to hire is part of the Cheshire East area, located a short drive from the M6 so ideally suited to a local candidate or one with access to their own car. Candidates utilising public transport should note that the nearest train station is a 1.2 mile walk from the school.
