An Alternative Provision in Bradford are looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Assistant on a full time basis from January 2019.

The school is situated in the Manningham area of Bradford and caters for young people aged 11-16 with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The school offers an alternative curriculum, focusing on vocational subjects such as Construction, Health and Social Care, and Animal Care alongside core subject lessons in Maths and English.Pupils have been unable to progress within mainstream environments and benefit from an distinct approach, taking their holistic needs into account.

The successful applicant will work closely with colleagues to provide an effective, caring and understanding environment where young people can overcome disadvantage and lack of provision to achieve their full potential in life through the enthusiastic delivery of relevant education, training and leisure opportunities.

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will be patient, with a great deal of resilience in order to provide reliable support to young people in times of stress. You will have a strong commitment to young people and a sound understanding of the factors affecting their lives. In addition, you will have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with pupils, a large staff team, multi-agency professionals and parents/carers.

You must be available for a minimum of 3 days during term time, able to deal effectively with challenging behaviour and committed to meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of young people as well as supporting access to learning.

In addition to experienced Teaching Assistants, we would also like to hear from you if you have a background in Youth or Social Work, counselling or experience within a Youth Offending Team.
