The school:

Teaching Personnel are exclusively working with a specialist SEMH provision located in Basingstoke. The school provides alternate education to pupils aged 11 to 16 years of age, with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The national curriculum is delivered in a flexible and nurturing environment that recognises the needs of attending pupils; catering specifically to those operating at Key Stages 3 & 4 with a variety of needs, including: ADHD, Emotional anxiety, self-harm, disruptive, anti-social and disengaged behaviour.

The SEMH provision focuses specifically on the emotional and social skills of attending pupils, using positive strategies to encourage pupils to overcome individual barriers to learning and the achievement of success.

The provision is currently expanding and is now seeking two new Senior Support Assistants to work with pupils on a one to one or small group basis. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the overall development of pupils. Successful applicants will be required to support pupils with a range of daily tasks, such as: supporting emotional well-being, engaging pupils in education and general support.

The candidate:

Individuals which are traditionally successful to this type of role will be confident and compassionate; and will have experience working with aspects of challenging behaviour or special educational needs.

Relevant experience which is useful in these roles:

  • Criminology
  • Youth work
  • Residential care
  • Social work
  • Military or Security
  • Sports coaching

The role:

  • Hours between 8.30am and 4.00pm.
  • Monday to Friday (Full and part time roles available).
  • Earning potential of between £9.00 and £10.50 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications (Minimum £9.00 per hour).
  • GCSE equivalent in Maths and English (A-C).
  • Temporarily role with permanent progression opportunities.
