Behaviour mentor - Salford (M7) primary school

A primary school in the Salford (M7) area is looking for a Behaviour Mentor to support a child on a 1:1 basis in intervention sessions and in the class room setting. The pupil has Social Emotional Mental Health Needs and is struggling to engage within the classroom. Because of this, the Head Teacher is looking for a behaviour mentor to build up a relationship with the pupil and help them access the national curriculum.

The pupil has been showing disrupted behaviour in the classroom so the ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour. The Head teacher expects the successful candidate to build trust with the pupil and use a firm but fair approach and implement boundaries for the child to work within. Having a pro-active and energetic approach to learning will be essential to excelling in this role.

The Behaviour Mentor will be expected to support the pupil in the class room as they have previously show disruptive behaviour. 1:1 sessions outside the classroom will also be used to raise attainment academically. The candidate will be working in a large Salford school and will liaise with the SENCO, inclusion Manager and teachers to record progression and identify any other gaps in the pupil's education.

  • Full time role start 25th February 2019
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour is desirable
  • Supporting students inside the classroom and in the Learning Resource Centre
  • Access a range of CPD courses to bolster professional learning and development

This is a large primary school and the number of pupils with special educational needs is above the national average. The school has a strong leadership team and will be able to support to right candidate with CPD courses for their own personal development.
