Behaviour mentor required in County Durham (DL5)

Job description

A behavioural provision in the County Durham area (DL5) are currently seeking a behaviour mentor to work 1 2 1 and in small groups from May 2018 until the end of the academic year. The provision provides support for SEMH pupils in KS4.

We are looking for people who have a strong personality to support children with a range of behavioural difficulties. All applicants should posses the correct behaviours in order to support SEMH students within the classroom. Ideally applicants will have experience with SEMH, although this is not essential. Candidates with a background in Youth Work, Sports coaching, Ex Police / Army Personnel or Drama will also be considered.

Additional training such as Team Teach and de-escalation is advantageous. The provision is easily accessible from the A19 and other main routes, including regular bus routes with parking also on site.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Teaching Assistant/HLTA experience with relevant additional qualifications or other transferable skills such as ex forces or sports coaches
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or a willingness to learn
  • Patient and nurturing mannerism with excellent behaviour management skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
