A resilient behaviour mentor is required for an exciting role at a Pupil Referral Unit in the South Derbyshire area, starting as soon as possible. This role focusses on the mentoring of a small group of students or sometimes individual students with a small educational setting. The role will also involve supporting students with sports activities such as climbing, sailing, swimming and general sports activities in the local leisure centre.
The provision also have an allotment so will require staff to support with outdoor learning and horticulture sessions. They also offer Forest School sessions so we require individuals with experience in this area and who are comfortable with outdoor education.

The role involves:
- Supporting students with SEMH which may require dealing with challenging behaviour
- Supporting the class teacher in the running of the day to day provision, including stepping up to cover the groups where required, in the absence of the teacher
- Supporting with GCSE, BTEC and Functional Skills curriculum
- Supporting with sports sessions on a regular basis
- Working professionally with a range of multi-disciplinary teams where required
- Dealing with safeguarding issues professionally as and when they arise
- Having an awareness of any students who are not attending/engaging - finding creative ways to reintegrate back into the classroom
- Offering a calm, nurturing approach consistently to help diffuse and prevent challenging behaviour from arising
