Behaviour Mentor – Pupil Referral Unit (LA1)

 

We are looking for a resilient, calm and supportive Behaviour Mentor to join our Pupil Referral Unit. This role involves working closely with children 5-11 who present challenging behaviours and require tailored emotional and behavioural support. You will help pupils re-engage with learning, develop positive routines and build the confidence they need to move forward. 

 

What will I be doing? 

• Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils regulate emotions and make positive choices.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support behaviour, engagement and personal development.
• Assist with managing challenging situations using de-escalation strategies.
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and unstructured times throughout the day.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to implement behaviour plans and EHCP targets.
• Help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where pupils feel valued.

 

What do I need? 

• Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs or within a PRU or alternative provision.
• A calm and resilient approach with the ability to stay composed under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build quick, positive rapport.
• Confidence in using behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
• A team player with a supportive, non-judgmental attitude.
• Relevant training such as Team Teach or other de-escalation methods is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
