We are currently looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant/Behaviour Mentor to join a friendly and supportive team in one of our SEN schools in Cardiff. You will either work one-to-one or with small groups, providing classroom based & extra curricular support to children with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties and other co-habiting disorders.
The ideal candidate :
You must be willing to provide help and support to children with Autism, Challenging Behaviour, Social and Emotional Mental Health and Learning Difficulties. Your role will consist in assisting the class teachers with children in need of additional support mainly in core subjects, but also helping out with their integration and emotional support. Any certificates or qualifications related to Special Needs and/or Education.
This position is well suited for a creative, compassionate, caring and patient candidate with a good behaviour management, willing to develop their knowledge in the education and special needs sector. We highly recommend for graduates who are willing to make a career in education to apply. The role is a full time and long term position (Monday to Friday, school hours) to start early November (after the half term break).
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
- Provide two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start on short notice
- Be living in The Vale and/or have plans to move to The Vale in the near future and/or be willing to travel to The Vale
