Behaviour for Learning Mentor – Full Time or Part Time Available

  • Inspiring educators required to work with primary age children in Kingston based PRU

Teaching Personnel is currently looking for two learning mentors to work with children at risk of exclusion from school due to their behavioural difficulties. You will be based in a short stay PRU in New Malden and you will help children re-integrate back into mainstream school and avoid permanent exclusion.

I am therefore looking for people who are passionate about inducing positive social and behavioural change as well as educational progression.

  • You will work with a maximum of 8 children at any one time, and it would be useful if you are confident in using restraint, but only if you absolutely have to, or if you have training in restraint or de-escalation techniques.

Although you will focus primarily on coaching the children on their behaviour choices, your role will also involve delivering school work including numeracy and literacy sessions which are already planned for you.

The working day starts at 08:45am and finishes at 3:30pm. Ideally we are looking for applicants who can work 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, term time only) however applicants who can work 3 or 4 days per week will also be considered.

  • £75-£100 per day pay rate through the agency, which will be paid weekly
  • An extra £9 - £12 per day will be paid for you towards your National Insurance and Pension contributions
  • Previous experience of working with children in a similar capacity is desirable
  • You are not required to plan or prepare any materials
  • You will be given a work mobile phone

Make a real difference to the children who need it most.

Send your CV today to be contacted for more information, or to apply for one of the roles.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training.
