Behaviour Buddy One-to-One Role
Here at Teaching Personnel we are currently working alongside one of our partner Secondary Schools that are looking to recruit a Behaviour Buddy/Mentor for a 1:1 role in Cardiff starting at Easter. As a 1:1 Behaviour Buddy, you will have the ability to build strong, trusting and stable relationships with young people, and be consistent in your approach to behaviour management.
Pupils that struggle in mainstream lessons may need extra encouragement and support to ensure they stay on track with the goals that they have individually been set. Often pupils will have individual development plans which you will be required to monitor and feedback to the appropriate members of staff. You will be able to provide support both on an academic and pastoral basis; providing emotional support where appropriate.

The perfect candidate will have:
- Skills and personality to be a role model to vulnerable young people
- The ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour and support pupils that are in risk of reaching crisis point (Team Teach training can be provided by Teaching Personnel)
- Previous experience of meeting young people's Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs would be desirable however this role often relies on having a great attitude towards supporting individual and varying needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A passion to make a positive difference in a young person's life
- Access to a vehicle is desirable
- Patience and reliability to provide consistency for a pupil with complex needs
- Sensitivity to the challenges relating to young people in care
