Are you passionate about sport, mentoring young people, and making a real difference in education?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a resilient, energetic, and motivated Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist educational setting in the Ystradgynlais area. This role is ideal for individuals with experience working with children or young people who may display challenging behaviour, require additional emotional support, or benefit from positive role models both inside and outside the classroom.

This opportunity would particularly suit candidates from backgrounds such as:

  • Sports coaching
  • Rugby, football, boxing, gym or fitness instruction
  • Youth work
  • Behaviour mentoring

The Role:

You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage with learning, regulate behaviour, and build confidence. A proactive, calm, and consistent approach is essential.

You will be expected to:

  • Support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Build strong professional relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Encourage participation through sport, structure, and routine
  • Help students develop social skills, resilience, and self-confidence
  • Support teachers in managing behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Promote a safe, active, and positive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience working with children or young people
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Brings a strong team mentality and positive attitude
  • Enjoys sports, fitness, mentoring, or outdoor activities
  • Can stay calm under pressure and build trust with pupils
  • Holds a valid driving licence (desirable)
  • Has a DBS on the update service or is willing to apply for one
