Basic Skills Tutor/trainer

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for tutors to provide focussed 1:1 tuition lessons to pupils throughout all of Hampshire and the South Coast!

We work closely with the Local Authority and Hampshire County Council who require tutors to work with children who are not in education and/or are awaiting school placements; many of whom nay be quite vulnerable and display heightened levels of anxiety. The support is needed to ensure that the pupils do not fall too far behind in the curriculum while waiting to re-enter full time education. The session times can vary - this will be determined on a case by case basis. You can work with as many learners as you like, as you will have full flexibility and control of managing your own diary!

Learners may require tuition for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Behavioural difficulties (Pupils excluded from school and are waiting on a new placement)
  • Emotional needs such as high levels of anxiety
  • Refusal to attend school
  • Medical needs
  • Relocation to a new area and waiting for a school placement
  • Improvements in grades needed
  • Support with GCSE preparation
  • Support with transition into a new school

Additionally, with the catch up funding that is being provided to schools, there will be a need for tutors to work on a 1:1 and small group basis within schools, in order to support children who are returning to their learning environment - This can be in a mainstream or SEN setting.

The majority of the tuition is within the core subjects; so specialists within this area would be beneficial in order to fulfill the current need. Primary and Secondary specialists are encouraged to apply as we received referrals for all ages. Tuition will best suit teachers who need the flexibility and would like to manage their own diary, or are looking to utilise their teaching skills outside of a school environment.
