Autism teaching assistant, South Croydon SEN primary school

SEN Teaching assistant wanted as soon as possible in the South Croydon/Addington area.

This primary SEN school caters for children with severe autism and other complex needs, most of whom are non-verbal and use PECs, Makaton or other visual aids to communicate. The school is looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic member of staff who really wants to make a difference to lives of vulnerable children to join their team and begin full time work after the Easter holidays, with the view to continuing through the academic year.

You will be working in a key stage 2 class comprised of 9 students and there will be a class teacher and 3 other teaching assistants in the classroom.

The following are essential to apply for work at this school:

• A child workforce DBS registered on the update service, or be willing to complete a new application asap
• References from your previous employers
• Previous experience of supporting children or adults with autism
• Willing to provide personal care for students who need assistance with toileting/changing
• Knowledge of PECs, Makaton or BSL is desirable
• Education to at least A Levels, or a level 3 qualification
