Job description

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant for an 'outstanding' special needs school in the Barking and Dagenham area for an immediate start. This will be working in a lively KS1 class working with autistic learners who present with some behavioural needs as part of their condition. For this class the successful teaching assistant will have a good understanding of working with autism and previous experience working with ASC ideally in a primary setting!

This is a welcoming school that are looking for a passionate teaching assistant to join their team; there is the potential for a permanent contract for the summer term for the right person.

KS1 Autism Teaching assistant:

  • Must have at least 6 months previous experience working with autism
  • KS1 or KS2 knowledge of primary curriculum will be an advantage
  • Use of PECS and Makaton for learners
  • Confident to provide 1:1 support when required
  • Be able to provide support with toileting needs
  • Monday to Friday - Full time hours : 8.30am -3.30pm
  • Positive , pro active personality

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
