We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Autism Teaching Assistant to support children aged 5 to 15 in a warm and specialist primary-focused setting in Poole.

This supportive provision is known for its nurturing atmosphere, dedicated staff and tailored learning approaches that help every child feel valued, understood and encouraged to thrive.

 

About the Role

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to deliver personalised learning and structured routines that help pupils build confidence, independence and social understanding.

This full-time role offers the chance to support children who benefit from consistency, patience and a calm, positive approach.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with additional needs

  • Assist with learning activities, structured routines and communication development

  • Help maintain a safe, encouraging and low-stress environment

  • Support emotional wellbeing and celebrate each child’s progress

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to meet individual needs

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months’ childcare or education experience, ideally supporting children with additional needs

  • A caring, patient and resilient attitude

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships

  • A genuine commitment to helping children succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
