Autism Support Assistant, Westminster

A warm and inviting school located in Queen's Park is currently looking for a support assistant to work with a child in their Year 1 class.

The role will involve working with a child who has a diagnosis of Autism. He is currently achieving well academically, however will require support socially. He has speech and language communication needs and will require interventions to increase his communication. Your role will be to support him both in and out of the classroom, following his daily schedule of activities.

The School is a 2 form entry with a large family of amazing staff! They have received a 'Good' Ofsted rating and are striving to earn themselves an 'Outstanding' rating with the help of new and current staff. This school is committed to promoting critical thinking and problem solving in their children to ensure they are recognising each child's individual talent and potential.

As they are close to Queen's Park Station, the school benefits from easy travel to some of the great learning environments that London has to offer. The school have recently visited the Natural History Museum, London Science Museum and a number of London's galleries, theatres and parks.

Shortlisting criteria include:

  • Experience working with Autism and/or other SEN
  • Knowledge and experience of the KS1 National Curriculum
  • Willingness to be involved with extra-curricular activities
  • Passion for helping raise pupil attainment
