Are you looking for a new teaching assistant position?

Do you have experience supporting children with autism?

A lovely primary school located in Southwark are looking to recruit an exceptional member of support staff for their autism resource base. There are currently 16 children in the resource base, split into two classes, and they represent a range of abilities from low functioning non-verbal children to high functioning verbal children.

They have a vacancy for a teaching assistant to take on:

  • a full time role, working Monday to Friday during term time only
  • the hours are 08:30am - 15:30pm daily
  • you will be required to support children on both a 1:1 and small group basis, and must be confident to lead small group sessions delivering work set by the class teacher focussing on numeracy, literacy, communication and social interaction
  • ability to use PECs, Makaton or British Sign Language is highly desirable although not essential
  • previous experience of working with autism, either in a school or alternative setting is essential
