Teaching Personnel are urgently looking for a motivated TA/Learning Support Assistant who can hit the ground running! It is in an ASD unit based in Carshalton in Years 3-4.
About the School
This school is a lovely primary school focused on educating students in a caring, nurturing environment. It values diversity and aims to engage students through creative, fun and experience-based learning.
The school consists of 2 main departments - the primary school and a specialist school for children who have an EHCP with Autism Spectrum Disorder. With only around 60 students in the small specialist unit, class sizes are small with approximately 6 per class. This ensures excellent focus on the individual needs of each and every student. The curriculum is carefully tailored according to the student's needs and a support plan is curated collaboratively between staff, therapists, parents and the council. Facilities at this school are fantastic - offering soft play areas, therapy rooms, sensory rooms and indoor and outdoor play areas.
Your responsibilites would include:
- Supporting pupils throughout the school day
- Assisting the pupil with the work set out by the teacher
- Behaviour/learning support
- Supporting with the use of additional learning resources such as visual aids and social stories
- Holding 1:1 or small group sessions
- Aiding with the set up and set down of the classroom
- Maintaining high levels of health and safety with the pupils
- Aiding the teacher with the day to day running of the class
To apply for this role you must have:
- A strong desire to work with children with ASD or additional needs
- Experience working in a school or education setting
- A good understanding of Safeguarding
- Degree educated (or equivalent) desirable
- Child Workforce DBS on the update service (ideal if you have one already but if not, we can help with this)
- Living near Carshalton
- Available to start immediately on a full-time basis
