Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently partnered with a larger than average secondary school in the North Sheffield area that are seeking to appoint a one-to-one and small group ASC Learning Support Assistant. This shall be for a full time role starting ASAP.

The school has a small provision of around 10 students ranging from KS3 right up to KS5 who all have high functioning ASC, ADHD and Asperger's. They are looking for an experienced LSA to support the pupils in their learning development with a focus on literacy and numeracy.

The department is a very successful team of people who support students with their different needs in the mainstream curriculum. The majority of support is given in lessons, ensuring all students have a chance to reach their potential in a range of subjects. In class support means the students can achieve in lessons alongside their peers. The school also runs extra-curricular clubs whilst having a homework club after school and at lunchtime. The school will offer support and training for the successful candidate.

Person Specification:

  • Ideally have TEACCH training / experience
  • Experience supporting pupils / adults with ADHD, ASC and Asperger's across KS3-KS5
  • Experience working with secondary aged pupils within numeracy and literacy on a one-to-one or small group basis
  • Ideally be degree educated but not essential
  • Must be available full time (5 days a week) in January

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
