A great School in Lambeth (South London) which caters for young people aged 11-16 years with special educational needs (SEN) is currently recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September for a long term full time role. The school is the Local Authority’s (LA) designated secondary school for children and young people with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and learning difficulties.

The Role

Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant required for a long term full time role (Monday – Friday 8:30 – 15:30/16:00) to start in September 2016.

As the Teaching Assistant you will be working among one other Teaching Assistant and lead by the Class Teacher. The class is made up of 10 students in KS 3 class who have ASC and challenging behaviour.

The Ideal Candidate will;

• Have experience working with children or adults with ASC and challenging behaviour

• Have good knowledge or understanding about Special Educational Needs

• Experience using in Makaton and PECS is beneficial

• Be available to start immediately

• First Aid Trained Level 1

• Aware of safeguarding for children

For the right candidate, there will be an opportunity to follow a yearly rolling programme of training in the following:

• Team teach


• PECS awareness

• Makaton sign language

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
