Job description

1:1 ASC Support Assistant required for larger than average primary school

  • ASC specialist work with the potential of moving up through the school with the child
  • Temporary-Permanent Contract
  • Opportunity to work within an “Outstanding” key stage 2 unit.

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a large Primary school in Cardiff who are currently recruiting for a teaching assistant to take up a long term position supporting autism in key stage 2. Due to an influx of children in key stage 2, this Primary school need additional support with a couple of autistic children. The successful applicant for this role will start as soon as possible.

This is an above average sized Primary School , catering for children aged (4-11) with a great staff team, welcoming opportunities within their classrooms and several opportunities for CPD.

The Position:

• Supporting Autism (ASC) in Key Stage 2.

• Recognizing trigger points and crisis points for children.

• Supporting with communication using PECS

• Using visual timetables such as “Now and Next”

The Candidate Experience:

• Psychology Graduate – understanding of communication issues and barriers

• Social Workers and Youth Workers

• SEN Teaching Assistants with Autism or similar experience

• Respite Carers
