A Primary Special Needs School in Tameside are currently recruiting for a specialised ASC teaching assistant to begin in September 2017. Initially, the position is temporary for the first school term September 2017 – December, however there could be an opportunity for permanent for the right candidate.

The school caters for pupils who have a statement of special needs or EHC plan. The pupils who attend the school may have: severe, profound, multiple learning difficulties and or ASC. The role will involve working closely with a classroom teacher to support the holistic development of pupils with ASC. Due to the specific needs of pupils; the ideal teaching assistant will have an in-depth understanding of how to cater for pupils with ASC.

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

- A level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (level 3 desirable)

- Team- Teach training

- Experience working within a special needs setting (preferably school)

- An understanding of EHCP’s

- A commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all pupils

- Experience of delivering targeted intervention to pupils with ASC
