A highly successful 11 – 19 specialist support academy require experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to start after February half term. The school caters for pupils with significant and complex learning difficulties and has been repeatedly described by Ofsted as being ‘outstandingly effective’. The school require Teaching Assistants to start on a temporary basis with the view to continue on a rolling contract.
It is essential for candidates to have -
• Previous experience in a teaching assistant or care environment
• Extensive knowledge, skills and experience to work effectively with pupils experiencing complex learning needs and autism
• A good understanding of how to motivate and engage pupils so they learn very effectively and make significant progress
• Previous experience delivering personal care
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
It is desirable for candidates to -
• be Team-Teach trained
• have experience working with Plevels
• have experience using alternative communication aids (e.g. PECS/ BSL)
Teaching Personnel offer an excellent range of CPD courses including Team-Teach, Autism Awareness and Read, Write, Inc. Phonics.
