This primary school caters for children aged 2 – 11 with special educational needs arising from a range of conditions. A large number of pupils have an autistic spectrum disorder. This means that they have difficulties communicating and interacting with others. They will also have difficulties with play and imagination. Some pupils have physical difficulties whilst others may have a language disorder or have a general developmental delay.
All pupils have difficulties accessing education and need to work in smaller class groups with a high level of specialist staff from Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and the School Nursing Service.
Each pupil at the school has an individual programme including activities that are designed to encourage them to make good progress across all areas and achieve their full potential. Programmes include specialist approaches and resources to help them do this.
To apply for this position the teaching assistant will demonstrate outstanding specialist skills for pupils with learning difficulties and abilities. This role is to support and improve academically whilst building positive relationships.
The position is to start as soon as possible, with a view to becoming permanent.
The pay for this role will be £8.07 per hour.
