Dedicated SEN support assistant required at a specialist school in Barnsley

  • Pay will reflect upon your experience up to £70 per day
  • Full time position from June 2016 until the end of the academic year
  • Permanent position available from October 2016

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an autistic support assistant at a recently Ofsted graded “good” specialist school in Barnsley; the school is apart of The National Autistic Society and have autistic accreditation and are looking for someone with the passion and will be committed to supporting children with autism (ASC) to access the curriculum in a long term position.

The post will be working with the secondary age pupils from 11-19 devoting your support to the pupils needs. This role will be a highly demanding but rewarding role and a great opportunity to showcase your skills as a specialist support assistant. A particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with ASC is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal candidate would have a good knowledge of support teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to this.

Candidates who are familiar with or have had an experience with Studio 3 similar to team teach and signing i.e. Makaton/BSL/sign supported English are strongly encouraged to apply. These skills will be extremely valuable and relevant to the position.

Teaching Personnel are also partnered with Leeds Trinity University and are able to offer a range of additional training to up skill you as an individual and broaden your knowledge and capabilities ; these including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
