Job description

A 'Good' secondary school in central Nottingham are looking to recruit effective nurture mentors to support students with autism transition in to mainstream education.

The role offers a varied and ever changing environment in which members of staff work flexibly to support vulnerable learners minimise social anxiety and social exclusion effectively removing barriers to education to allow for successful integration.

In the role of being a key worker for students with autism you will be responsible for ensuring work students are completing is accessible to them by adapting resources or utilising different communication strategies such as Makaton or PECS (training in these areas is not essential but desirable).

Those who have experience in the following areas would be of particular interest:

  • Support work & residential care
  • Learning mentor in secondary environment
  • Graduates from relevant disciplines (Psychology, sociology)

This is a unique opportunity to work in a school that ofsted has identifed to be a 'Hub of good practise' aross the city for SEN learners.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
