As a result of an upcoming maternity leave, a co-educational secondary school in Warrington is looking to take on an Art teacher for the duration of the maternity cover. This is therefore a full time requirement for a qualified Art teacher to take on from February to July 2020. The successful Art teacher is required to teach across the Art curriculum following the AQA specification. This includes the areas of Fine Art, Photography and Textiles for example.

This secondary school was rated as ‘Good’ with outstanding elements in its most recent inspection and as a result they are looking for an Art teacher who can contribute to their push towards being outstanding. The school has high expectations of students and staff alike and the appointed Art teacher is expected to be able to take on all planning and marking as part of this longer term teaching role.

The Art department is made up of 3 teachers at this fairly large secondary school with a Head of Art who is supportive, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable in their field. Feedback from those teachers that go to this school for shorter term supply assignments is always positive with teachers requesting to return wherever possible. This is a testament to the school and the positive environment which is fostered from the senior leadership team.

Highlights of this Art teaching position:

  • Competitive pay rate: earn up to GBP2700 per month depending upon payscale and experience
  • Full time maternity cover required: following the February half term (24th February – 17th July)
  • Follow and teach the AQA specification in Art working with 2 other Art teachers within the department
  • ‘Good’ rated secondary school situated in the Warrington area

Being situated just outside of the centre of Warrington, this school is easily accessible for those who live in the nearby areas of Wigan, St Helens, Widnes and even Trafford in Manchester. The school boasts fantastic facilities especially within the Art department having a new state of the art department and equipment at the disposal of teachers and students.

There will be elements of teaching across KS3 and KS4 with the majority of the timetable taking place in years 8 – 11. Whilst the school are looking for an Art specialist, they are very open to receiving applications from teachers of all experience levels including NQTs and those more experienced.
