We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher for a secondary Art Teacher position at a renowned special needs school in Uxbridge. The school is well known for using art as part of a semi-formal curriculum which focuses on non-academic skills and promoting engagement.

Due to the role being at the school's secondary site in Hillingdon relevant experience teaching art to key stage 3 and above is vital to being successful for this role. Teachers are expected to plan, teach and assess art lessons for small classes of up to 8 pupils on the autistic spectrum and prepare students for AQA Art and Design exams. Being flexible, innovative and resilient is ideal as the school look for creative ways to promote learning and will alter plans to support pupil needs.

This teaching role is to start immediately or in September 2019 to cover maternity leave within the school for a minimum of two terms with a high likelihood of the role continuing until July 2020. There will also be opportunities to apply or permanent jobs at this school.

Support is offered in house on data, planning and assessment with on-going training in specialist resources and tools for autistic learners.

Requirements:

  • MUST hold UK recognised teaching qualifications - QTS, NQT, PGCE
  • MUST have experience teaching Art
  • Experience teaching pupils, young adults or adults with special educational needs particularly autism and learning difficulties
  • Commitment to a minimum of two terms (full time work)

Pay:

  • Competitive daily rate dependent on experience, qualifications and reference grading with permanent contract offers

Hours:

  • Monday to Friday (8:30-4:30)

Location:

  • Based in Uxbridge and accessible from West Drayton, Hayes, Hillingdon, Northolt, Ruislip and areas of Slough
