I am working with a school who are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Manager for our Breakfast/After School Club. The candidate should be dedicated to providing outstanding extended care, organising and engaging children and staff. The working hours of this position is 2pm-6pm. The school is located within the London Borough of Kingston and it is a 5 day a week role.

The Club Manager has the responsibility for ensuring that the Club runs smoothly and that the staff will be directed in an organised and consistent way. The safe and happy play environment of the Club depends on the management skills of the Club Manager. The post holder must have the capacity to plan ahead, anticipate potential difficulties and establish a course of action.

Successful candidates will:

  • Be able to lead, manage and motivate staff to ensure the best provision.
  • Have a relevant Level 3 / childcare qualification and have excellent knowledge of child development.
  • Experience of caring for children aged from 3 - 11 years.
  • Ensure the Breakfast/After School Club is an enjoyable experience for all the children.
  • Have the ability to communicate well with adults and with children.
  • Be able to demonstrate emotional resilience and confidence during challenging situations.
  • Be competent in using computer systems including email, Microsoft word and Excel.

Main purpose of the job:

  • To manage the day to day running and administration of the breakfast and after school club whilst adhering to policies and procedures.
  • To provide line management to a team of play workers, directing the work of staff based at the Club, supervising their activities and inducting new staff members.
  • Work alongside whilst leading and motivating staff to deliver and provide quality care play opportunities and development activities in a nurturing and safe environment.
  • Liaise with the school regarding the needs of the children who attend the Club.
  • To be responsible for good conduct, welfare and safety of pupils in their charge.
  • To ensure the Out of School Club is a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • To minimise disruption and ensure the children's well-being, happiness and safety are maintained.
  • Will ensure positive relationships with the children and parents and with colleagues within the school and from external agencies.
