Ad-hoc Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant (TA / LSA)
Location: Torquay, Devon
Hours: Ad-hoc, flexible days and hours (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm)
Start Date: ASAP
About This Role
Are you looking for an ad-hoc Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role in Torquay? We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and proactive individual to join a supportive secondary school team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping young people achieve their full academic and personal potential while enjoying flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small-group support to students
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
- Support students with additional learning needs and help them stay engaged
- Encourage positive behaviour and act as a role model
- Prepare classroom resources and learning materials when required
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and support staff
- Demonstrate professionalism in line with the school’s expectations
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A caring, patient, and supportive approach to working with young people
- Strong organisational skills and reliability
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow teacher guidance
- A positive attitude and commitment to student success
- Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow teacher guidance
- A valid DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Hold a valid UK driving licence

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
