4 Teaching Assistants to Support Autism

Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a school in Maidenhead that provides specialist education for pupils, in primary and secondary with:

  • Autism (verbal and non verbal)
  • Speech Language Communication Needs
  • Mental Health Needs - anxiety

They have asked Teaching Personnel to help in there search for a minimum of 4 teaching assistants to work in either primary or secondary.

The role involves working 1:1 with pupils supporting in basic numeracy, literacy and social interaction with peers. All children will be working at one or two levels below the national curriculum. Some primary pupils are working at the EYS curriculum and secondary pupils working at the primary curriculum. Class sizes are small ranging from 6- 10 pupils depending on the needs of the children.

Candidates are required to work Monday - Friday 8.30am-4.30pm. The children's school day finishes at 3.30pm however staffs remain in school until 4.30pm for training and personal development.

Candidates need to be:

  • Strong with behaviour management
  • Patient and Resilient
  • Comfortable delivering personal care - required more in EYS and Primary
  • Experienced working with children and/or adults with Special Needs - namely Autism
  • Understanding of ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis)

If you have a background in support worker, youth work, care work, psychology, or ABA tutoring with children and adult this role would be ideal.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
