Job description

A mainstream Primary school located in Leyton, Waltham Forest is looking to recruit 3 proactive and engaging Learning Support Assistants to support children diagnosed with Autism. The role involves supporting a child on a 1:1 basis, with topics within the National Curriculum including Art, Maths and Literacy; as well as social interaction with peers and staff.

The school has been rated as 'Good' in their latest OFSTED inspection, and is a short bus journey from Leyton Station (central line).

The successful candidates will:

  • Have previous experience, voluntary or paid, working with adults/children diagnosed with Autism
  • Have a good understanding of numeracy and literacy
  • Be able to build strong rapport with children and staff
  • Have a child workforce DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
  • Be highly motivated, enthusiastic and be willing to learn and develop new skills
  • Be keen to work as part of a team and have good communication skills
  • Be committed to promoting the inclusion of all pupils, ensuring equal opportunities to learn and develop.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
