We are currently seeking 2 SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a lovely, friendly and welcoming Primary School based in Weymouth. The SEN Teaching Assistant must be able to assist in promoting the learning and personal development of each child to whom you are assigned, to enable him/her to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

• Clarifying and explaining instructions
• Ensuring the child is able to use equipment and materials provided
• Motivating and encouraging the children as required by providing levels of individual attention, reassurance and help with learning tasks as appropriate to children's needs
• Assisting in weaker areas, e.g. speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting/presentation etc
• Using praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the child to concentrate and stay on task
• Must be able to have emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
• Positive attitude to use of authority and maintaining discipline
• Differentiate the resources for students with SEN
• Monitor the progress and keep records of support and impact of support in class

The SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to monitor, assesses, and record of pupils' progress
• Able to work calmly and effectively with challenging young people
• Ability to communicate 'cross phase' and within the community is an important feature
• A valid DBS
• 3+ months experience working with SEN children
