Teaching Assistant

Salary: up to £325 per week

Location: Plymouth

The Head Teacher of a Plymouth based Alternative Provision is looking for a full time Teaching Assistant to support the learning of a secondary aged pupil with SEMH difficulties. The role is to start in May 2019 and will be until the end of the academic year with the potential of being extended into September. It is Monday to Friday, full time, term time only.

This is a fantastic opportunity for people with experience in youth work, sports coaching and support work.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking tasks set by the class teacher
  • Supporting a child on a 1:1 basis inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Building up rapport between yourself and the pupils
  • Working with other members in the school to provide support to all children

To apply for this position, you will need:

  • A full, clean driving licence with access to a car daily
  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
  • A strong passion to enhance the development of pupils
  • An approachable and positive attitude
  • Be confident in working with small groups and 1:1
  • Hold a Child Workforce DBS on the update service (Teaching Personnel can support you with gaining a DBS)

In order to work for Teaching Personnel and clear our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided should you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £44, plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.
