1-1 Teaching Assistant in Bournemouth

Teaching Personnel are working with a client school in the Bournemouth area, seeking 1-1 Teaching Assistants to support pupils with behaviour needs

The school is a Pupil Referral Unit, catering for Secondary aged pupils who have been excluded from mainstream school. The pupils can display challenging behaviour and may have other needs, including Autism, Social and Emotional needs, Mental Heath needs or ADHD. 

We are looking for confident Teaching Assistants to work on a 1-1 basis with pupils, supporting them with their education outside of the class setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • liaising with the class teacher regarding lesson plans and expectations
  • supporting the pupil with their work 
  • managing behaviour expectations
  • supporting pupils emotional needs

Some of these 1-1 sessions may take place outside of the school setting, for example at a library or learning zone. You will be responsible for transporting the pupil so you must drive and have business insurance or your car insurance policy. 

To be successful in this role you should:

  • be confident dealing with challenging behaviour
  • be resilient
  • be flexible and adaptable to working with different pupils
  • have a good understanding of the curriculum in order to support pupils
  • have previous experience working with pupils with SEN and/or behaviour needs

We have both full time, part time and ad-hoc work available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
