1:1 Support role alongside child with Speech and Language Needs

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a GOOD Blackburn Primary School. The role is to work with a child in a year 1 class on a part time basis from September. The child is undiagnosed with suspected Autism. With this, the child struggles with a range of speech and language difficulties and her development academically and socially has been affected. The school are very keen to appoint a temporary member of staff to work on a 1:1 basis with the child from 0830-1245.

The Inclusion Manager in school has noted that she would be keen to shortlist candidates who have a Level 2 qualification, experience of working alongside children with speech and language needs as well as the confidence to work independently with an individual child.

The school is currently graded as GOOD by Ofsted and the levels of support for special educational needs is also considered to be GOOD. The Head teacher is a passionate leader who cares for his children and staff and with this he is always welcoming with new staff members who arrive in school.

The position will potentially run for the rest of the year but the school are keen to appoint on a temporary termly basis to ensure the funding is covered.

In order to apply for this role you must have the following;

Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification

Experience in working in KS1

Experience working alongside children with special educational needs

Flexibility to pick up additional hours covering welfare and supporting other children in school.

Sound knowledge of the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme

Availability to work into 2019

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
