1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

1:1 Teaching assistant required to work with pupil displaying social, emotional and mental health issues in KS4 of a North Barnsley Secondary school

• Previous experience working with SEMH Pupil desirable
• Strong behaviour management and setting of expectations required
• Candidates with Previous PRU experience would be encouraged to apply

A client secondary school have come to Teaching Personnel to recruit a 1:1 Teaching assistant to support with a young boy displaying Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues in their KS4. The boy has recently been granted an EHCP which now enable the school to put the provision in place. The pupil is said to become aggressive when unable to get his own way as well as being unable to socialise with the rest of his class without having supervision. The role will be specifically 1:1 with the successful candidate working really closely with the boy and slowly integrating him back in to the classroom. As this is with a KS4 student then GCSE knowledge would be ideal and also the team teach qualification would also be advantageous, however if the ideal candidate does not possess this the school will give full training.

The school is a larger than average secondary school and need the support in place as soon as possible to relieve pressure on other members of staff supporting him. The school are looking to introduce potential candidates to the pupil first week back with the successful candidate to start the following week.
