1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant - Manchester

An Outstanding Primary Pupil Referral Unit in Levenshulme, Manchester are looking to appoint a 1:1 Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work with a pupil in Year 6 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. This role is looking to start as soon as possible with the view to continue until at least the end of the academic term, potentially longer for the right person. This pupil has struggled to engage within school since the start of September and requires some focused support to engage within lessons.

The school have expressed the need for a male role model with a sporting background as the pupil has a keen interest in the practical element of the subject. This pupil can display their aggression through physical outbursts, therefore a Team - Teach qualification would be ideal. If not, the successful Teaching Assistant must be willing to attend a Team - Teach course. The school have expressed that building a trusting relationship with this pupil is paramount, therefore need a Teaching Assistant who would be willing to take the time to understand the pupils needs and commit to the role.

The school is very well run and supportive of staff and students. Pupils here make good progress academically as well as social and emotionally. Class sizes are small to allow staff time to focus on pupils individual needs. Each pupil will be working towards Individual Educational Plans, any previous experience working to IEP's would be ideal.

The ideal Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant will have;

• Experience working with disengaged young people
• Experience within a construction / joinery / design technology environment
• An up-to-date Team - Teach or similar qualification
• An enhanced DBS on the update service
