ASC teaching assistant - Bury (M26) - primary school

A primary school in the Bury (M26) area have had an intake of children in Key Stage 1 this September with Special Education Needs. And the Head Teacher is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in the classroom and in 1:1 intervention sessions to enable the pupil's access to the National Curriculum.

The child is in the Year 1 class and is high functioning with Autism but finds it hard to concentrate in class and needs support in the class room. The ideal candidate will need to be confident with experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs. If you want to make a difference working with children who struggle in mainstream schools this could be the perfect job for you.

There are a number of children through Key Stage 1 with Autism, Speech Language Communication Problems and speak English as an Additional Language so previous experience working with these needs is essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous SEN experience
  • A flexible and creative approach to learning
  • Experience utilising SEN and behavioural strategies for structured learning

This primary school based in Bury (M26) is larger than average and has been rated as 'Good' by its previous Ofsted inspection. The primary school has a very close connection to the local community and has a strong focus on creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
