Exam students given 'impossible' business studies question

An exam board has apologised after it set AS-level business studies students a test paper containing an 'impossible' question.

A spokesperson for the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA) said the board was "very sorry" for the error.

"However, we do have a robust process for ensuring that none of our students will be disadvantaged as a result of our mistake," the AQA said.

According to the board, examiners marking the paper will be made aware of the error and marks will be adjusted to ensure that students are awarded the right grades.

However, one Leicestershire teacher has expressed concern over the length of time some students may have spent trying to solve the problem.

This latest blunder comes just a week after thousands of AS-level maths students were set an unanswerable question by fellow exam board OCR.

This exam paper was sat by more than 7,000 students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
