Latest exam mistakes 'are unacceptable'

Education secretary Michael Gove has described it as "unacceptable" that more errors have been round in A-level and GCSE papers.

It was revealed this week that an AQA GCSE maths foundation paper sat by pupils on Tuesday (June 21st) contained a question that appeared on a previous exam paper.

Errors were also found in a GCSE Latin paper and A-level physics test.

A spokesperson for the Department for Education said: "Mr Gove has said repeatedly that the exam system is discredited and action must be taken.

"The department has been in close contact with Ofqual and the Secretary of State is speaking to them today to get a briefing on what action they are taking."

Glenys Stacey, chief executive of qualifications watchdog Ofqual, said the errors are "unwelcome and unacceptable".

She added that exam boards have been contacted about these latest mistakes and that regulatory action will be taken as necessary.
