Teaching jobs may be created at a new secondary school in the North West of England when it opens next year.

The Blackburn Central High School was officially named today (May 27th) at a steel signing event at the site, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

It is being built off Haslingden Road as part of the Building Schools for the Future campaign.

The school is being formed by an amalgamation of Blakewater College, Crosshill School and Beardwood Humanities College.

Teaching jobs may be offered to those who educate GCSE classes as 100 year 10 pupils from Beardwood High School will be joining the establishment ahead of their exams.

Councillor Maureen Bateson, executive member for children's services at Darwen Council, told the news provider: "The children are going to have a fantastic school and the community will have a fantastic facility."

There are currently 3,172 maintained secondary schools in England, with more than three million students.
