Pupils at one Cornwall school stepped back in time this week to experience life during wartime Britain.
Youngsters from St Merryn School transformed their classrooms into a number of themed areas, including a post office, railway station, shop and kitchen, the Western Morning News reports.
Students swapped their school uniforms for traditional clothing from the 1940s and were 'evacuated' to a nearby parish hall where they were given talks by local people who had lived through the war.
"Each class read a novel on a wartime theme as a stimulus for the activities, which resulted in a celebration assembly on Friday for all the parents. The children had a fantastic time and have already made plans for next year's theme," said headteacher Sarah Cudmore.
In other Cornwall education news, youngsters in Year 2 at Bodmin Beacon School recently launched a speedwatch campaign aimed at curbing speeding outside the school.
