Pupils from one Devon school hopped on their bikes and scooters last week to promote healthy living as part of a special cycling event.

The students from Eden Park Primary School were taking part in a Love Your Wheels event organised by local charity Sustrans, the Herald reports.

Headteacher Ken Kies said the initiative proved extremely popular, with parents and governors also getting involved.

"The event promoted a healthy means of getting to school and lots of children turned up on their scooters and bikes," he told the newspaper.

"Sustrans provided a free breakfast and then held art and craft sessions and slalom challenges, which the children really enjoyed."

In other Devon education news, pupils from Bassetts Farm Primary School swapped their school uniforms for costumes last week when they spent a day dressed as their favourite superheroes.
